Morse Watchmans’ key cabinets form a high-quality metal cabinet system with the number of cabinets determined by the number of keys. The system is not based on a computer, but on a hardware control unit. A computer can be connected to the system via a computer network and it allows convenient programming and control of the key cabinet and extraction of events from there, but all of this can also be done without a computer from the keypad of the key cabinet. When connecting the key cabinet to the computer, a code is always requested, which is not located in the computer program, but in the memory of the key cabinet.

The key cabinet can be opened with an access card (key cards already in use in the building) and/or the user’s personal code, which opens the outer door of the key cabinet and releases the required key, indicating the location of the key with a light signal. The user can use the keypad of the key cabinet to perform the functions enabled for them – change their code, etc. A keychain (‘key tail’) is attached to each key, which contains a unique code and enables the secure identification of all keys. The keychain is easy to install and can only be removed by breaking it. The key can be returned to any slot in the key cabinet. When the key is inserted into the slot, it is immediately fixed and cannot be removed without entering the user’s personal code. The key cabinet has a special function to release all keys for emergency situations. All software related to the key cabinet is available in Estonian.
